EXAMPLE ORDER OF WORSHIP
For recent worship services, check out my Sunday Relections on my blog here.

The following outlines an example worship service developed by Eric C. Powell. This was an actual program for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church and was a powerful time of connection, prayer, and worship.

 Order of Worship

PROGAMMING OVERVIEW
Occasion:
International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church

Theme:
Underground Church

Scripture:
Hebrews 13:3 (CEV) – “Remember the Lord’s people who are in jail and be concerned for them. Don’t forget those who are suffering, but imagine that you are there with them.”

Desired Outcome:
To create awareness of, and to encourage people to respond with practical steps to aid persecuted Christians.

Introduction Text:
In some places in the world, the Bible is considered dangerous religious and political propaganda, churches are outlawed, and pastors are imprisoned. Even so, those whose lives have been touched by Jesus still meet to pray, worship, and spend time together. Imagine today, that we are those people.

Atmosphere/Props:
Lights are kept low and silence is encouraged before service. Ficticious signs are posted throughout church and sanctuary warning punishment of various offenses and punishments, such as imprisonment for owning a Bible.
